Portulacaria

This is a succulent bush with thick, gray or brownish stems and fat, tender, bright green leaves that are very small. It can grow 12-20 feet tall. Its pale pink flowers grow in little clusters. Even when small, this plant makes a handsome foliage plant.

Pot Cultivation

This plant prefers bright light and a soil mixture consisting of four parts sandy loam and one part of equal quantities of sand and crushed brick. They need great drainage so fill about a quarter of the pot with crocks, and over that rough leaves. Keep the soil moist from April to October and throughout the winter months, water only enough to keep the stems from shriveling up.

Propagation

Cuttings can be taken at any time of the year, although spring and summer are the best times.
